THE GORDON STUDIO
Eileen Gordon and Grant Donaldson
Eileen Gordon was born in Norway to British parents whose work in glass
kept them there until she reached the early teens. She came to Tasmania in
the early 80’s to work with Tasmanian Glassblowers and to develop her
own ideas at the same time. She exhibited at Saddler’s Court Gallery
both in production and exhibition work, and the Gallery has continued to
represent her in the ensuing years.
She has since that time worked at the Jam Factory in Adelaide, the Meat
Market Craft Centre in Melbourne, and has also visited Scotland to explore
its famous glass studios . Marriage to Grant Donaldson, another glass
artist, and the setting up of their studio in Victoria has taken place in
the last few years, and they now also employ one full time and two part
time people.
Eileen and Grant are constantly experimenting with colour and design;
their work is characterised by innovation and imagination.
