Peter Glover

The young Peter Glover spent a great deal of his time on the East Coast when on holidays, and developed a strong rapport with the surroundings, probably because of the  family's link with the property "Glenheriot" at Cranbrook, and also because of the history of this area in the early settlement of Tasmania, with its cottages, its hawthorn hedges and the marshes along the river and the lagoons. Apslawn in particular attracts him, and he is drawn to it time and again as a subject for his paintings.
Over the years his work has evolved to capture the lyrical quality of light and space of the Tasmanian landscape in a way which is free from formality or need to express excessive realism.
Born in 1951 at Lindisfarne,  Peter began painting at school, had some private tuition from Helen Crab and later was tutored by Ivor Boyd who was at that time working at the Hobart Museum and Art gallery with  a reputation for boldness and energy in his work with oils.
Peter went on to study Graphic Design at the School of Art in Hobart and then worked in a variety of jobs, until he decided that full time painting was to  be his future.
