offers the work of more than 100 Tasmanian artists and crafts people. We choose each piece personally, not in terms of what is fashionable or what sells best, but according to its ability to reflect something of Tasmania.
Born Hobart, Tasmania, 1939.
Apprenticed as a lithographic artist with a commercial printer, and studied life drawing with Jack Carington-Smith at Tasmania’s Art School.
He paints full-time in water colours and oils from his home studio near Hobart where he lives with his wife Jan and the youngest of their four sons.
He travels as regularly as possible in Europe and has painted for exhibitions of work done in Greece, Turkey, Italy, France and Ireland between 1985 and 2000.
He has exhibited in Fujian Province, China, and has undertaken commissions by a number of public companies including North Broken Hill Peko and International Catamarans.
His paintings hang in many of Tasmania’s public buildings, board rooms and offices, as well as private homes throughout Australia.
His work has been represented at Saddler’s Court Gallery since its opening in 1968.
