Chris NeedhamBorn in the United Kingdom in 1945, Chris immigrated to Tasmania in the early 70’s. She first started painting in oils in the mid to late 70’s. Thereafter an intense period of work as an Occupational Therapist left her little or no time or energy to paint. In the mid to late 80’s Chris returned to art, this time to watercolour painting. Following yet another break from painting due to work commitments, she took up her brushes again in 2003, this time trying her hand at using acrylic paints. In 2008 Chris returned to oil painting. Her current work centres around semi abstract landscape based paintings, where colour, mood and atmosphere take precedence. Chris loves and is inspired by the wonderful panoramas we find in Tasmania, these providing her with the “inner direction” to paint.
