Saddler’s Court Gallery

offers the work of more than 100 Tasmanian artists and crafts people. We choose each piece personally, not in terms of what is fashionable or what sells best, but according to its ability to reflect something of Tasmania.

Steve Howie

Steve Howie is a Hobart artist whose interests lie mainly in streetscapes, rooftops, and the vista of the Derwent River.
His use of colour and clean-cut architectural shapes makes his work very striking and expresses the ambience of Hobart on those clear days when the light is reflected from the water to make the city sparkle.
He is fascinated by the variety of orchids, and when the weather is unfavourable for surfing, which is his hobby and his favourite form of exercise, he paints these flowers in his own distinctive style.
