Saddler’s Court Gallery

offers the work of more than 100 Tasmanian artists and crafts people. We choose each piece personally, not in terms of what is fashionable or what sells best, but according to its ability to reflect something of Tasmania.

TASMANIAN GLASSBLOWERS

James Dodson has been producing fine crystal ware for drinking glasses, wine, port and champagne flutes, as well as a range of birds, frogs and fish for almost 20 years.

These pieces are made for you from some of the world’s finest silica flour, by skilled glassblowers using traditional techniques.
The sand is mined near Savage River on Tasmania’s west coast. Fluxes and furnace perform their chemistry, and the molten glass flows with the breath of the blower into moulds to make production pieces, or freely into one off forms that reflect his skill and sensitivity.
