Saddler’s Court Galleryoffers the work of more than 100 Tasmanian artists and crafts people. We choose each piece personally, not in terms of what is fashionable or what sells best, but according to its ability to reflect something of Tasmania. |
Timothy ClarksonBorn in Tasmania in 1982, after completing years 11 and 12 at Rosny College (where he studied ceramics) Tim then lived for a year with a host family in northern France as part of a student exchange program. Upon his return he moved to Melbourne where he commenced studies in Fine Art at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. As his Major during his undergraduate, being intrigued by the art of origami, Tim researched ways of contrasting hard ceramic forms with the assumption of soft paper based forms. Tim has since been invited back to RMIT University where he is undertaking his Honors degree.
Tim’s recent work includes cranes focusing on war and terrorism (using decals depicting images and texts relating to the ongoing conflict throughout the Middle East), contrasting this with hope and serenity as the form itself, being the crane, is widely seen as a peace icon. Also he is producing both cranes and doves with delicate decorative patterns.
