BRUCE PRINGLE

Forged metal

“By hammer and hand all arts do stand”

is the motto of the 16th century Blacksmith’s Guild in England, and one which Bruce Pringle, decorative blacksmith from Hobart Tasmania, takes as his own.

A self-taught, traditional blacksmith, who found his way into the field through jewellery and knife-making, Bruce uses the same tools as the early blacksmiths of the colony did.

Although he still produces larger pieces such as music stands, umbrella stands, coat racks, his battle with RSI has forced him to limit the numbers he can produce, and he has now developed a range of celtic brooches, pendants, and small tea caddy spoons which are very appealing as small gifts because of their whimsical nature.
